Phuket blues fest line-up finalised

6 Feb 2012

The line-up for this month’s Phuket International Blues and Rock Festival has been finalised. American bluesman and actor Chris Thomas King will headline the event scheduled to take place on 24 and 25 February at the Laguna Phuket Resort.

Mr King is noted for his part in the 2001 film O Brother Where Art Thou in which he performed Hard Time Killing Floor Blues live. He was also one of the lesser players in the film and contributed to other songs. The film soundtrack has since notched up worldwide sales of more 10 million.

Preceding the American blues performer is an all-star cast with many international and Thai musicians in it. From Australia, John Meyer's Blues Express, Stuart Bush and Jack Derwin are set to appear.

Moscowfish from Canada are scheduled to make their debut Phuket performance before heading back to Koh Phangan for the Half Moon Festival at the end of the month. Grainne Duffy from Ireland will also be making her first Phuket appearance.

Other acts are Akasha from Malaysia, Jim Paxton and local bands that include The Rockin Angels and the Colin Hill Band. The main musical renditions are being staged at Laguna Grove on Bangtao Beach from 17:00 to 00:00 on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

There are also some performances in the lobby of the hotel prior to the start times and a closing festival at Bangtao’s Bliss Beach Club on Sunday 26 February. Festival line-up details can be found on its website. Ticket prices and details are also shown. The blues fest is a charity event with money raised going to the children's education fund of the Patong Beach Rotary Club.
