The line-up for this month’s Phuket International Blues and Rock Festival has been finalised. American bluesman and actor Chris Thomas King will headline the event scheduled to take place on 24 and 25 February at the Laguna Phuket Resort.

Phuket Town was the scene of vibrant celebrations last week to welcome in the Chinese Year of the Dragon. On Monday afternoon, people started crowding into the town’s Sanam Chai Park ahead of the main activities.
Phuket officials warn of fake begging monks

Religious officials on Phuket have warned residents and tourists to beware of bogus Buddhist monks asking for alms. The local director of the Thai National Buddhism Office, Chatpawit Jinapong, said that the annual tourist high season saw lots of con-men donning monk’s robes and tricking people into giving them donations.
Hotel bookings boom ahead of Chinese New Year

People planning to visit Phuket for the forthcoming Chinese New Year festival should ensure they have a hotel booked. The island’s Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office says it expects up to 60,000 visitors to descend on Phuket for the annual holiday.

The Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Patong has been put up for sale by its proprietors. The 390-room resort hotel just two minutes walk from Patong Beach is being sold with no management contract, allowing the buyer complete freedom over how the establishment is moulded and marketed.
