Phuket has perhaps the most lucrative property industry in Thailand relative to its size and, not surprisingly, there are dozens of property agents – though the global financial crisis has made quite a few disappear. Agents may be attached to developments or facilitate deals with all manner of properties, plus many will have ties to off-plan projects that can offer superb value-for-money.
Many property agents in Phuket are foreigners who are more successful at meeting the expectations of wealthy international buyers, and have large portfolios of villas and other desirable property for sale. It is important to be specific about your requirements when dealing with Phuket real estate agents to avoid wasting time looking at unsuitable selections. This is perhaps Thailand’s most sophisticated property market and most (though not all) agents are experienced professionals used to dealing with million-dollar deals, along with renting and services.
Most Phuket property agents maintain extensive websites for remote browsing and will be able to advise you on ownership structures, the law and lawyers. That said, it’s always prudent in Thailand to vet your estate agents carefully since the law is not very supportive in cases of malpractice.
