Kamala beach pictures

Kamala Beach is one of the largest and more popular beaches of Phuket. It occupies a broad, sweeping, three-kilometre long crescent on the west coast, with hills either end. In these pictures of Kamala Beach, it appears relatively undeveloped and, in fact, most of the beachfront is lined with public park area or natural Casuarina forest.

The Tsunami of 2004 was particularly devastating to Kamala and pictures of this tragedy show that much damage was done to the flat interior where many of the hotels are. All of the coconut palms had to be replaced and it will be several years before Kamala beach returns to its original character.

Kamala is more laid-back and family orientated than Patong and has a less busy centre, without all the go-go bars and noise. A public park and memorial sits at the centre of Kamala Beach. The southern end of Kamala is more built up nearer the beach, while Kamala pictures show a nice, unspoilt northern end which you can walk to for privacy.

For the best pictures of Kamala, hop on a rental scooter and head up the hill on the northern end towards Surin Beach and you’ll come across a great viewpoint that reveals the bay at its best.

There are several photo shops and numerous internet cafés in Kamala where you can download images to disk, as well as stock up on batteries, buy cameras or get some support.
